#11-Corey Heim won a rain-soaked Long John Silver’s 200 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Friday night. The win was his first of the season, first at Martinsville, and third career Truck Series win. It is his first win under the TRICON Garage banner.
The start of the race was delayed just over two hours following severe weather. For the first time in NASCAR history on a short track oval, the race began on wet weather tires as the track was still damp at the start. The race was incident free through a competition caution on lap 27 when NASCAR deemed the racing surface dry enough for teams to switch to slick tires.
#11-Heim got the lead from #51-Kyle Busch on lap 43 following the restart for the competition caution. He led every lap through the shortened conclusion on lap 124 for a total of 82 laps led.
#51-Busch and pole-sitter #38-Zane Smith were the only other drivers to lead laps Friday night. They finished second and third.
#98-Ty Majeski, #15-Tanner Gray, #99-Ben Rhodes, #25-Matt DiBenedetto, and #17-Taylor Gray finished in positions fourth through eighth.
#1-William Sawalich made his series debut and scored a strong ninth place finish.
#4-Chase Purdy finished 10th.
There were two lead changes among three drivers and six cautions for 63 yellow flag laps.
