Redline is a long-time manufacturer of high-quality synthetic oil and driveling lubricants. They’re more associated with “sporty car” racers, but they have a solid reputation in other racing series. Larry Wallace may have indeed specified its use in his engines; I’d guess that he’s found he can use a lighter viscosity synthetic oil and “free” some horsepower. Typically, synthetic lubricants are also used in the trans and differential for qualifying because of this(thanks Glenn 7-8-97)
