Cale Yarborough has filed an official appeal of the $50,000 fine issued on Crew chief Furr for those illegal carb studs , saying the amount is excessive. The purpose of the studs was to align the throttle bores in the base of the carb with the holes in the restrictor plate which would have been legal if they drilled and retapped the manifold at the carb base instead(7-10-97)
