Stanton Barrett was the fastest Busch regular and fourth fastest overall in testing at Charlotte Monday, moving around the 1.5-mile double dogleg in 30.95 seconds (174.475 miles per hour) in the #40 Channellock Chevy. A broken rear end after a freeze plug blew out at the immediate end of testing Monday sent Barrett into the first-turn wall, but the knowledge from that session should carry over for a strong 300-miler at Charlotte(Williams Company), didn’t see Barrett on any of the charts(5-18-1999)
