All three Winston Cup Series races at California have been won from a top-five starting position. Darrell Waltrip posted his most recent top-five finish in the 1998 California 500 when finished fifth. Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte have both posted three top-10 finishes at California, the only drivers to do so.
