Johnson is rumored to be on the short list for the #01 Winston Cup car. Johnsons name has been mentioned in numerous rumors after ALLTEL, his primary Busch Series sponsor, announced it was leaving Herzog at the end of the year. Herzog Motorsports has yet to secure a Busch sponsor for 2001, which has also helped fuel the speculation.
