Valvoline and BBBSA: Pro Football Hall of Famer Lynn Swann announced a $1 million pledge from Valvoline to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) if Valvoline NASCAR driver Johnny Benson wins a pole position and race on the same weekend for any of the remaining Winston Cup races in the 2001 season. Swann also announced that Benson has been named an honorary Big Brother and is the new national spokesperson for Valvoline’s Caring Hands program, taking over the role held by former Valvoline driver Mark Martin. Valvoline also will make donations to BBBSA throughout the 2001 season based on Benson’s on-track performance: $5,000 for a win, $2,500 for a pole, $1,000 for a top ten 10 finish, $500 for a top 20 finish and $20 for each lap led. By virtue of Benson’s fourth place finish at last week’s Las Vegas race, Valvoline will donate $1,100 to the local BBBS agency.
