Valvoline and BBBSA: In just 2 1/2 years, Valvoline’s NASCAR team-based fundraising effort on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America has topped $600,000 in contributions. Going into this weekend’s (Aug. 3-5) Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, total donations from Valvoline and NASCAR fans are $606,220, one of the most successful cause-related programs in motorsports history. #10 Valvoline Pontiac driver Johnny Benson is the new national spokesman for “Caring Hands”, as well as an honorary Big Brother. Valvoline donates to BBBSA throughout the Winston Cup season, based on Benson’s on-track results: $5,000 for .a race win; $2,500 per pole position; $1,000 for a top-10 finish; $500 for a top-20 finish; and $20 for each lap led. Valvoline will donate $1 million to BBBSA if Benson wins the pole and race on the same weekend for any of this season’s remaining Cup events. In addition, Valvoline pledges to donate $100,000 to BBBSA if race fans and the general public submit 100,000 handprints to Valvoline by the end of the racing season.
