Harvick and Yates? UPDATE: There are persistent reports that Yates would like to hire Kevin Harvick away from Chevy’s Richard Childress, although Childress and General Motors executives say that won’t happen.(Winston Salem Journal)(5-18-2002) UPDATE: [Robert] Yates said he hasnt talked with Harvick. And Richard Childress, who owns Harvick’ Chevrolets, said his driver isnt going anywhere. This despite numerous sources indicating the relationship between Harvick and his crew is anything but rosy. Childress, meanwhile, insists otherwise. Ive heard the same rumors, read the same things, Childress said in regard to overtures to Harvick. All I can say is you need to go ask (Yates). All I know is Kevin’ under a contract for another year. We plan on keeping him. He’ happy. Were happy. Everything’ happy.(Winston Cup Scene – need sub to read)(5-23-2002)
