Atlanta Testing: For the second straight day, #00-Buckshot Jones led the speed charts during a two-day test of ten Winston Cup and Busch teams testing for the Oct. 25-27 NAPA 500 weekend. Jones, driving for Michael Waltrip Racing, turned a lap of 187.869mph). Just a tick behind Jones was #16-Greg Biffle, who will be attempting to run both the Aaron’s 312 BGN race and the NAPA 500, with a lap of 187.108. After a successful stint as a stand-in for the injured Bobby Hamilton, Biffle will attempt to qualify Roush’s #16 Grainger Ford in the NAPA 500. Third fastest in Wednesday’s test session was #9-Bill Elliott at 183.333. Testing will resume next week, when at least a dozen Winston Cup and BGN teams are expected to test for the upcoming NAPA 500 weekend. Among those expected for the Oct. 7-8 test are Winston Cup drivers #7-Casey Atwood, #99-Jeff Burton, #44-Jerry Nadeau and #83-Kerry Earnhardt, and BGN drivers #5-Ricky Hendrick, #24-Jack Sprague, #57-Jason Keller, #87-Joe Nemechek and #30-Christian Fittipaldi.
