Changes soon with the #16? UPDATE 2 Goss out:

Though rookie Greg Biffle won last month at Daytona, his learning curve would be accelerated by the addition of a veteran Winston Cup crew chief. Biffle’s crew chief is Randy Goss, who is in his first full Winston Cup season in that job. Roush would not confirm that changes are ahead for any of his teams, but he says he won’t wait until the end of the season if he believes a move should be made.( Sporting News ), Jimmy Elledge is one possibility.(8-5-2003) UPDATE: Some shifts and changes have taken place within Greg Biffle’s rookie team. “We have a new program that has a new driver and new crew chief,” Roush Racing president Geoff Smith said of the re-evaluation the team underwent, “to get the right support system around the program.” However, Smith added, “I can tell you unequivocally that [crew chief] Randy [Goss] wasn’t one of the people that will be shifted. That doesn’t mean that he won’t be shifted, but that’s not happened – the reports are premature.”( Ford Racing )(8-8-2003) UPDATE 2 – Goss replaced by Richert: Roush Racing announced today that Doug Richert has been appointed as crew chief of the #16 Grainger Ford driven by Greg Biffle effective immediately. Richert, currently the crew chief of the Carl Edwards Truck Series #99 entry, has extensive Winston Cup racing experience, including the 1980 series title with Dale Earnhardt and two victories with Neil Bonnett in 1985. Randy Goss will assume the role of Busch Series Program Manager at Roush Racing’s Mooresville location where he will oversee the day-to-day operations. Goss is a winning crew chief in all three of NASCAR’s elite divisions and he helped secure the 2002 Busch Series Championship and 2000 Truck Series Championship for Roush Racing. Kevin “Cowboy” Starland has been appointed as crew chief for Carl Edwards and the #99 Superchips Ford F-150. Starland, car chief for Biffle’s championships in the Busch Series and Truck Series, had also been the crew chief for the cancelled #60 Stanton Barrett program, helping Stanton achieve his best career qualifying and finishing results.( Roush Racing PR )(8-26-2003)
