UPDATE: Brian Vickers shook off the effects of a hard crash the previous night to lead the speed parade Tuesday evening at Lowe’s Motor Speedway as 22 teams made final preparations for the inaugural nighttime running of the “Little Trees” 300 on Friday, Oct. 10. Driving a back-up #5 GMAC/CARQUEST Auto Parts Chevy after crashing his primary car on the first night of testing, Vickers was caught on the unofficial stopwatches with a lap of 181.537 mph around the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Two-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday, who was fastest on the unofficial stopwatches Monday evening, was second fastest at 180.168mph in the #2 Chevrolet. 1992 NASCAR Busch Series champion Joe Nemechek was third fastest at 180.168mph with David Stremme next at 180.132 mph in the #1 Dodge. The caution flag was never unfurled as the six-hour testing session was run without incident. The top-10 unofficial speeds:
