incomplete research but interesting; #12-Ryan Newman won his 9th race in his 74th career start. How does that stack up in history? Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Bobby Allison nor Darrell Waltrip did it; neither did Jeff Gordon, who won his 9th race in his 84th start. From what I can figure, Fonty Flock was the fastest to 9 wins, doing it in 42 races back in the early 1950’s. His brother, Tom Flock did it in 48 races, Dick Hutcherson did it in 54 races, Junior Johnson did it in 67 races. As for the modern era [1972 to present], looks like Tony Stewart was the fastest, 9th win in his 68th start.(10-7-2003)
