Auto racing returns to the concrete floor of Atlantic City’s [NJ] Boardwalk Hall next week. On Jan. 9, up to 40 drivers piloting Three-Quarter Midget and 600cc Micro-Sprint cars are expected to compete in four heats, two consolations and a 30-lap feature, with time trials beginning at 5:30 p.m. The action will continue with a day-long program on Jan. 10, concluding with a 50-lap feature at 6:30 p.m. Among the local entries are Danny Sammons of Bordentown, a USAR Hooters Pro-Cup regular, and Levittown’s Bobby Watkins Jr., who competed in the 2003 ARDC Midget Series. Johnny Sauter, who will drive the #30 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in the 2004 Nextel Cup Series, and Martin Truex Jr., a New Jersey native who will drive for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s 2004 Busch Series team, could be late additions to the event.
