Travis Geisler, the 23-year-old Pennsylvanian who has caught a lot of racing eyes the past couple of years, will run his first of 11 NASCAR Busch Series race for DCT Motorsports starting this weekend at the 1.366-mile Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Geisler, who has run a myriad of different series in his career including ASA, ARCA and Southwest Tour, joins driver Steve Grissom with the team, led by veteran championship crew chief Ricky Pearson. Grissom, a former NASCAR Busch Series national champion, will serve as the team’s general manager as well as driving 12 remaining races this season. “We’re very excited to have Travis joining us,” said John McGill, the Ohio native who co-owns DCT Motorsports with Carl Natale. “We’re building our team not just for this year but for a strong future as well, and having a young talent like Travis behind the wheel is a tremendous opportunity for us and for him,” McGill said. Geisler will be the only Vanderbilt graduate in the field Saturday. Grissom returns behind the wheel for the event in two weeks at the April 24 event in Talladega, Ala. DCT Motorsports had already scheduled an off-weekend for the May 1 California Speedway race, but Geisler will run again in the May 8 race at Gateway and May 14 race at Richmond before Grissom returns for the May 23 event at Nazareth and May 30 event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.(Williams Company PR)(4-8-2004)
