The NASCAR Busch Series saw its first green-white-checkered overtime period in Friday night’s Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway, which bunched the field and allowed #17-Matt Kenseth one final shot at passing #81-Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the win. Kenseth finally reached Earnhardt Jr’s rear bumper in Turn 3 of the final lap, but fell .100 seconds short at the finish. The win is Earnhardt Jr.’s second of the season in four starts. His last win came in the season opener at Daytona. It was also the 20th of his career and first in any series at Bristol. Kenseth, who restarted behind Earnhardt Jr. on Lap 255 for the green-white-checkered finish, spun his tires on the start and lost valuable ground. Rookie #5-Kyle Busch, who won the series’ past two races, finished third and gained more ground on points leader, #8-Martin Truex Jr., who finished seventh after an early spin in the race. Truex leads Busch by 78 points. #21-Kevin Harvick and #37-David Green completed the top five in the race. The race was marred by 13 cautions covering 87 laps. There were six lead changes among four different drivers.(recap from ThatsRacin.com)
