Jamie McMurray, running Ultra Smith’s #2 ASE Dodge for he first time, won the pole for the Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway with a speed of 125.436mph, beating is CTS teammate, #1-Ted Musgrave who will start 2nd after running a lap of 125.191. #30-Todd Bodine, in the first race for the Germain/Arnold Racing team in their Toyota will start 3rd, followed by #17-David Reutimann and #16-Jack Sprague. Points leader, #4-Bobby Hamilton will start 24th. A few Cup drivers in the race will start as follows: #09-Jimmy Spencer, 6th; #47-Tony Stewart, 10th; #52-Ken Schrader, 14th. 10 drivers failed to qualify.
