Ken Bainbridge Sr. passed away last night at 10:55pm/et at his home in Amherst, N.Y. (a suburb of Buffalo). Ken was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2004. Ken owned and operated Old Man Engineering for more than 20 years and he built racing transmissions for many Cup teams, including Ken Schrader, Jeremy Mayfield and the Bodine brothers. He also built cars and transmissions for many asphalt Modified teams (including Tom Druar and Roger Treichler). His work, including an economical asphalt Modified (Bill Bitterman’s #3/III), was featured in a 1980 Stock Car Racing Magazine cover story. There are no arrangements available at this time. His sons Kenny Jr. works at Ultra Motorsports and Keith works at ppc Racing. Condolences to the family.(2-10-2005)
