The never-ending feud between supposed teammates #12-Ryan Newman and #2-Rusty Wallace is apparently no closer to abating. Newman has been mostly silent, while Wallace has made no secret of his antipathy toward Newman and, in particular, his crew chief, Matt Borland. Newman said the feud has had no practical effect on the teams performance. Rusty has voiced his opinion in a lot of areas, said Newman. Ive maintained a pretty calm stance, and basically our performance has been related to our performance as a team. Weve had our goods and bads throughout the season, and none of it has been anybody elses fault except ours.(Gaston Gazette)(5-7-2005)
