Brandon Mudd of 590 the Fan KFNS in St. Louis spoke to Rusty Wallace who was at Gateway International Raceway testing his #64 Busch Series car Tuesday in preparation for the Wallace Family Tribute 250 on July 30th. When asked who was taking his place in his #2 Cup car, he said there have been a lot of applicants, but not too many worth looking at. “We don’t have a clue as to who’s going in that 2 car next year. We’ve got a lot of guys wanting to, but Mr. Penske hasn’t made a decision yet. The guys that are wanting to aren’t really guys who have won races and there are a lot of guys who really want to get in a good car, but haven’t had the experience yet. You have to weigh if you’re willing to put a guy in the car who doesn’t have the talent you need to have right now and teach him and waste two or three years. I’m afraid the Miller Brewing Company is not in the mood for that. I think they want a guy who’s going to get in it and roll right now, someone who can win. That’s who Roger’s looking for.” Rusty also said his son, Stephen, will race a limited schedule in the RWI Racing #64 Dodge in the Busch Series next season and will race under the RWI Racing banner at Michigan in the ARCA series later this season.(590 The Fan, KFNS.com)(7-21-2005)
