#6-Martin Martin broke a 52 race winless streak by dominating the Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway, leading 139 of 267 laps. It is Martins first points win of 2005 [he won the Nextel Challenge in May at LMS] and 35th career win. #16-Greg Biffle was 2nd, followed by #99-Carl Edwards, #20-Tony Stewart and the 4th Roush Racing Ford in the top-5, #17-Matt Kenseth. #97-Kurt Busch fell back late and finished 14th. Stewart increased his points lead to 75 over #12-Ryan Newman, who had a bad day, got two Lucky Dog passes and finished 23rd, the worst finish of the ten Chase drivers. #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. was involved in an early wreck and the car didn’t handle well and he finished 34th. There were 7 cautions for 28 laps, which is the record for the least amount of cautions and caution laps [was 9 and 39 last season]. Twelve drivers led laps with 16 lead changes. Martin also broke the Kansas record [5 races] for laps led and laps led by a leader with 139, the old record was 116 by Jeff Gordon in 2002.
