National Motorsports Press Association officials say owner/driver Bobby Hamilton has been named the first-quarter winner of the NMPA/Pocono Spirit Award for 2006. The annual award recognizes “character and achievement in the face of adversity, as well as sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports.” Hamilton, a longtime NASCAR Cup competitor who now owns a Craftsman Truck Series team, has stepped out of his truck while undergoing treatment for cancer but expects to return later this season.
