It was Denny Hamlin today at Pocono Raceway as he took his first Bud Pole of the season for Sunday’s Pocono 500. It was Hamlin’s second career top-spot (he captured the pole at Phoenix last November) and makes him the 10th qualifier for next February’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona (course he was in already as defending Champion of that event). Kurt Busch will join Hamlin on the front-row. This is his best starting spot since he had the pole at California in February.
Jeff Burton (5th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 3rd at Atlanta in March.
Welcome Back Jimmy Spencer (34th). Jimmy will make his first Cup start of the season this week in the #78 car.
