Balash Talks About Busch Series Issues:

NASCAR Busch Series Director sat down with the Cincinnati Enquirer on Friday to talk about the Busch Series. A few points of interest:
Q: What are your thoughts about the large number of Nextel Cup drivers competing in the Busch Series this season?
A:
There has always been an influence from the Cup garage in the Busch garage. Over the years it’s ebbed and flowed. This year we seem to have more Cup drivers in the garage. With that being said, we probably have more drivers than ever competing full-time in both garages. It makes the competition very close. We truly believe the NASCAR Busch Series is a stand-alone series. We’re trying to carve out our own identity with some long-term plans that make people focus on the Busch Series. But with that being said, it’s open for everybody to drive in.
Q: How will NASCAR’s ‘Car of Tomorrow’ project affect the Busch Series?
A:
There have been projects, or items, that have come out of that project that we’re already utilizing: SAFER barriers, head and neck restraint devices, more robust seats, netting and webbing inside the cars. As we evolve the Busch Series we want to make our car kind of a unique look versus having two identical cars (in Cup and Busch). That’s where we’re at right now. Our cars look very similar to a Nextel Cup car.
