More testing at VIR for road course prep:

A number of Nextel Cup teams visited VIRginia International Raceway this week to work on their road-course set-ups for the upcoming races at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., and Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, N.Y. On Tuesday, Joe Gibbs Racing (#20-Tony Stewart; #18-J.J. Yeley; #11-Denny Hamlin), Evernham Motorsports (#9-Kasey Kahne; #19-Jeremy Mayfield, #10-Scott Riggs), Dale Earnhardt Inc. (#1-Martin Truex Jr.), Petty Enterprises (#43-Bobby Labonte; #45-Kyle Petty), Richard Childress Racing (#07-Clint Bowyer) and PPI Racing (#32-Travis Kvapil) were scheduled to spend the day working on the 2.25-mile VIR North Course. Road-racing ace Boris Said was also on hand as a coach. No times were reported. On Wednesday, the three Evernham Motorsports cars were to be joined by Dale Earnhardt Jr., replacing Truex in the #1 DEI Chevy, and MB2 Motorsports (#01, Joe Nemechek). Unfortunately, heavy rain resulting from the remains of Tropical Storm Alberto caused the day to be a wash-out.(VIRginia International Raceway PR)(6-15-2006)
