Kasey Kahne nabbed his fourth Bud Pole of the season today (and 10th of his NEXTEL Cup career) at Michigan International Speedway for Sunday’s 3M Performance 400 presented by Post-It Picture Paper….but he had to wait till the end to start celebrating. Jeff Gordon went out last and settled for the outside pole as Kasey’s time was a little over 2/100th’s of a second quicker. This will be Gordon’s best starting spot since he had the outside pole at Daytona in February.
Brian Vickers (3rd) has his best starting spot since he had the pole at Loudon last July.
Dale Earnhardt Jr (6th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 4th at Dover last September (this one surprised me).
Ken Schrader (22nd) has his best starting spot since he timed in 19th at Martinsville in April.
Welcome Back Mike Skinner (43rd)…..he makes his first start of ’06.
