Terry Cook had a problem early in the race, got the Lucky Dog on Lap 44; and then marched to the front to take the lead and win the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway. Finishing in second was the #14 Ford of Rick Crawford ;another strong performance by that team. A race to the finish for the third position between the #20 and the #77, had Marcos Ambrose cross the line just ahead of Brendan Gaughan. It was a great run for Ambrose who started in the 4th position, lead lap one, and then hung around the top ten most of the day. He drove to a strong finish, taking the 3rd spot away from Gaughan on the last lap. Finishing fifth was the #5 of Mike Skinner. A late race accident sent Kelly Sutton to a local hospital to be checked out. She was reported to be alert and talking; no further report available at this time. First Chevy in the race was the #85 of Dennis Setzer who finished in the 11th place.(7-1-2006)
