Pressley’s son wins Bobby Isaac Memorial race at Hickory:

Coleman Pressley, son of former Nextel Cup [and Busch and Truck] took the lead on Lap 178 of the Bobby Isaac Memorial 200 and drove his way to victory in the completion of the race that was started on Labor Day. In doing so, the 18-year-old driver was able to tell his dad Robert Pressley (who was in Las Vegas with the Craftsman Truck Series) on the telephone from victory lane that he had just won the Bobby Isaac Memorial. In winning the event, which was the 30th annual Pressley, takes home the $4000 prize along with a beautiful crystal trophy. “My grandpa won this race and my dad ran it over and over, so I’m glad I can now be listed in the history of Hickory Motor Speedway,” said a happy Pressley in victory lane. The race which is run in memory of the late Bobby Isaac who passed away in August 1977 after participating in a Late Model Sportsman event at Hickory. Isaac got ill during the race and was taken to Catawba Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. He then collapsed in the lobby of the hospital and died of a fatal heart attack.
