Ramblings – Charlotte Qualifying Notes:

Scott Riggs took the Bud Pole tonight at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for Saturday’s Bank of America 500….and it’s a sweeper for the driver of the #10 Stanley Tools/Valvoline Dodge. His other pole this season came here in May, and this is the third top-spot of his NEXTEL Cup career. Teammate Kasey Kahne will join him on the front row.
Casey Mears (4th – 3rd after Busch’s DQ) has his best starting spot since he qualified 3rd at Richmond in May.
Welcome Back Todd Bodine (14th). This is his first start of the season and his best starting spot since he timed in 7th at Atlanta in October of 2003.
The Trouble Train included Bill Elliott) Kevin Lepage, Derrike Cope, Chad Chaffin, Hermie Sadler, Kirk Shelmerdine, Carl Long (crashed), Kenny Wallace (crashed), and Morgan Shepherd (dns).
With a tight “Chase”, we’ve got four Chasers in the Top-6 and six in the Top-12. If last week can be a guage, NBC should rename their “Through the Field” to “Through the Chase”….the one time they tried all they covered were the Chasers. Ah, those other guys just get in the way anyway!(Stock Car Fans)(10-12-2006)
