Busch exec: NASCAR should lower price of sponsorship:

NASCAR might be better off requiring less media advertising from a potential sponsor to replace Busch for NASCAR’s main support series, Anheuser-Busch Vice President Tony Ponturo said Tuesday. Speaking following the announcement that Budweiser would sponsor Kasey Kahne next year in the Sprint Cup Series, Ponturo said his company has no interest in reconsidering its decision to not renew its sponsorship contract of the Busch Series – a sponsorship that has lasted 26 seasons. NASCAR had originally been asking a reported $30 million to $40 million in sponsorship and activation costs. It is still looking for a sponsor to replace Busch with just five months before the 2008 season begins.(SceneDaily.com)(9-18-2007)
