Dr. Jerry Punch announced during TV coverage of the Busch race that five drivers – Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Casey Mears, Jimmie Johnson, and Landon Cassil – would share driving duties of the #5 Chevy next year. The team will operate out of JR Motorsports facilities.(8-18-2007)
UPDATE: Next season’s driver lineup for the #5 Busch Series entry will include a revolving door of Nextel Cup superstars, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, sources close to Hendrick Motorsports confirmed Friday. Mark Martin, who has driven two races for HMS in the #5 this season and is slated for a third, is also a possibility, sources said.
