Jimmie Johnson took the Bud Pole today at Kansas Speedway for Sunday’s Lifelock 400 with a time of 30.846 (175.063 mph) for his second top-spot in a row and 3rd of the season. This was career pole #12 for the Lowe’s Chevy driver. He’ll be joined on the front-row by Matt Kenseth….original second place starter Ryan Newman didn’t fare too well in post-qual tech (the roof height was too low on the #12 alltel Dodge) so he’s kicked back to 42nd. For Kenseth, this is his best starting spot since he led ’em to the green at Atlanta last October….but that race was lined up by points. This is his best starting spot on time since he had the pole here in October of 2005! Scott Riggs (3rd) has his best starting spot since he lined up 3rd at Richmond in May. Dale Earnhardt Jr (6th) has his best starting spot since he had the pole at Pocono in August. Dale Jarrett (13th) has his best starting spot since he had the outside pole at Talladega last October! Jeremy Mayfield (26th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 20th at Chicagoland in July. STREAKIN….Jimmie Johnson has 9 Top-10 starts in a row. Denny Hamlin has 4 Top-10 starts in the last 5 races. Greg Biffle has 4 Top-10 starts in the last 5 races. Martin Truex Jr has 4 Top-10 starts in the last 5 races. Only 47 cars on hand this week….four on the Trouble Train. A. J. Allmendinger, Ward Burton, Brian Vickers, and Jon Wood get the weekend off.(Stock Car Fans)(9-28-2007)
