So how is the Budweiser Shootout shaping up after 32 races?

as posted and announced back in August, the 2009 Budweiser Shootout at Daytona will have a new format with a field of 24 cars representing the top 6 teams from each manufacturer [Chevy, Dodge, Ford and Toyota], based on the final 2008 car owner points [NOT driver points]. NOT who won poles in 2008. NOTE: IF Dodge leaves OR teams merge or run a new manufacturer in 2009, no word how that will effect the 2009 lineup. The Chevy six teams [# 48,31,07,29,24,88] are all set since they are in the Chase, the only change will be Casey Mears will be in the #07 with Bowyer going to the #33 unless RCR lets Bowyer run the race in the #07 [Childress has said he is not moving the #07 owners points to the #33 for Bowyer]. The six Dodge teams are pretty set [#’s 9,12,2,43,19,42] as the team in 7th, #41 Ganassi is 417 pts down; David Stremme will be in the #12 with Newman moving on [in the past the Petty cars would not run the Bud sticker and would not run the Bud Shootout, no word if the #43 would run the race of not]. The top 5 Ford teams [#’s 16,99,17,6,26] are set with the two Yates Racing cars, #28 and #38 fighting for the 6th spot, with the #28 ahead by 172 points. The top 5 Toyota teams are set [#’s 20,11,18,83,44] with the #55 MWR 49 points ahead of #22 BDR team. The #44 will become the #00 in 2009 with Reutimann. NOTE: IF Dodge leaves OR teams merge or run a new manufacturer in 2009, no word how that will effect the 2009 lineup.
