2008 Chase participants Clint Bowyer (36th), Dale Jr. (40th) and Kevin Harvick (41st) all lost important ground at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the Coca Cola 600 as the halfway mark in The Race to The Chase is reached. Harvick, now 279 points out of the Top 12, is in the toughest spot, and is going through one of the toughest streaks he’s had in recent memory. Bowyer is still within one race out of the Top 12 at 109 points out, but this team has lost a dizzying 13 spots in the last five races. Carl Edwards’ tumble in the standings stopped at LMS with a fourth in rain-shortened race. Still, Cousin Carl is only 9 points ahead of 13th place and needs to generate some momentum. We are officially at the halfway point of The Race to The Chase after Dover: 13 down, 13 to go. Special halfway analysis next week. For more see my Chase Stats page.(5-29-2009)
