In the continuing spirit of the partnership between the U.S. Army and Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), the #39 Army pit crew for Ryan Newman will work in tandem with the Army Center for Enhanced Performance (ACEP) in an effort to jointly develop a specified training regimen to strengthen the mental and emotional skills that underlie human performance excellence. The synergistic program is designed to benefit the Army Strong Soldier as well as the Army pit crew. Both the Soldier and pit crew member rely heavily on mental strength, teamwork and communication to achieve success in their mission. The ACEP will observe and evaluate the #39 pit crew at this weekends NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). Two ACEP trainers will be on the grounds at MIS observing the race weekend routines of the #39 team and will follow-up by attending the team’s post-race debriefing sessions early next week at the Stewart-Haas Racing shop in Kannapolis, N.C. The ACEP trainers will also closely watch practice and training sessions by the #39 over-the-wall pit crew.
