Former NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief David Hyder has taken a position with Kevin Harvick Inc. Hyder won over 100 races driving Late Models in the Southeast but most recently worked as a crew chief with the Wood Brothers on the E21 Cup car. Hyder is shadowing us this weekend, said KHI general manager Rick Carelli. Hell be working on special projects, Carelli added. Hell also be Kevins crew chief at Martinsville (Speedway) on the #2 Tide truck. After running part time with the Wood Brothers NASCAR Sprint Cup team this season, the 43-year-old High Pointe, N.C.-native says hes looking forward to racing on a full-time basis again. KHI fields teams in the NASCAR Nationwide and Truck series. While KHIs final plans for 2011 have yet to be announced, Carelli said that Hyder will be the crew chief for Tony Stewart and the #4 Chevy when he attempts to win his fourth consecutive Daytona 300 Nationwide Series race next February.(Fox Sports)(10-15-2010)
