Before 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race winner Kasey Kahne was recently put to the test with local firefighters in Concord, N.H., New Hampshire Motor Speedway vice president and general manager Jerry Gappens made a special announcement regarding the July 13 Camping World RV Sales 301. ‘We are using the platform of the largest sporting event in New England to increase the awareness of the survivors and of those who protect and serve all of our communities,’ said Gappens, who declared that the Camping World RV Sales 301 will be dedicated to the men and women who lay it on the line every day. ‘It is our honor to be a part of this.’ For the second straight season, Gappens has reached out to corporate sponsors to buy tickets to allow first responders and their families to come to the race. Last year, over $10,000 in first responder tickets were donated from corporate sponsors. On a given NASCAR weekend, including the upcoming July 13 Camping World RV Sales 301, the speedway have close to 600 first responders on property who help protect the competitors and fans on-track, pit road, garage areas, grandstands and camping and parking lots.(NHMS)
