#5-Kasey Kahne won the Oral-B USA 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his 1st win of the season, third at Atlanta and 17th career win. Thew race had two G-W-C (Green-White-Checker finish). It is Kahne’s first win since Pocono last August. The win locks Kahne into the Chase.
#20-Kenseth finished 2nd and is now locked into the Chase via points. #11-Hamlin finished 3rd followed by #48-Johnson, #99-Edwards, #10-Patrick (best career finish), #31-Newman, #42-Larson, $43-Almirola and #16-Biffle.
Pole winner #4-Harvick led 195 laps, finishing 19th after being involved in a wreck on the first G-W-C.
Points leader #24-Gordon (3 wins) finished 17th on the lead lap, after having a tire go down and hitting the wall early in the race while running 2nd. Gordon keeps the points lead, 21 points over #88-Earnhardt Jr. who finished 11th.
#24-Gordon also leads the Chase Grid with 3 wins and being 1st in points followed by #88-Earnhardt Jr with 3 wins, 2nd in points.
Only four drivers can get in the Chase via points (with no wins) with one race to go before the Chase: #31-Newman (+42 points ahead of 17th in pts), #16-Biffle (+23), #15-Bowyer (-23 out of 16th) and #42-Larson (-24).
