NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Theriault was airlifted to a local hospital Saturday night after a high-speed, head-on wreck into an unprotected concrete wall at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Just 14 laps into the Rhino Linings 350, Tyler Reddick got loose in Turn 4 and was unable to correct his truck, catching the rear of Theriault and sending him into an area of the wall not protected by SAFER barrier. After the wreck, Theriault was able to climb out under is own power, but was placed on a backboard before being loaded into an ambulance. He will undergo further treatment at the hospital.(Sporting News)(10-3-2015)
UPDATE: Brad Keselowski Racing driver Austin Theriault was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Theriault underwent a comprehensive CT scan of the upper body, which showed a 10 percent compression fracture of the lower back. Theriault was released and will travel back to North Carolina where he will follow up with an orthopedic specialist for further treatment.
