While teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same right-side tire at Michigan this weekend, they will run distinct left-side tires . . . in Sprint Cup, this is the first time teams have run either of these two tire codes . . . this tire set-up was confirmed at a Goodyear test at Michigan on May 17 . . . drivers participating in that test were Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. . . . compared to what was run at Michigan last year, both this left-side tire code (D-4702) and right-side tire code (D-4704) feature construction changes to bring them into line with what is run at other speedways and compound changes to give the cars more grip . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Michigan . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.(Goodyear), see trie codes, pressures, set limits and more on the Michigan Race Info page
