-This is the sixth year in a row the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup third race has been held at Dover International Speedway (2011 – 2016). Dover was the second race of the Chase from 2004 – 2010.
-Eight tracks that have hosted Chase races all 11 previous years – Loudon, Charlotte, Dover, Homestead, Kansas, Martinsville, Phoenix, & Talladega
-Nine different drivers have won the Dover Chase races, but Jimmie Johnson (four) is the only driver with multiple wins (2005, 2009, 2010 and 2013).
-When Dover was the second race of the Chase (2004 – 2010) Jimmie Johnson won twice at Dover went on to win the title.
-Since Dover moved to the third race in the Chase (2011 – 2015) two drivers have won the event and went on to win the title: In 2012, Brad Keselowski won Dover’s Chase race, and went on to win his first NSCS title. It was Keselowski’s lone win during the 2012 Chase. In 2013, Jimmie Johnson won Dover’s Chase race, and went on to win his sixth NSCS title.
-The worst finish in a Chase race at Dover by a driver that went on to win the title was by Tony Stewart in 2011 when he finished 25th.
-Last season’s champion, Kyle Busch, finished second in Dover’s Chase race.
-No non-Chase driver has ever won the Chase race at Dover International Speedway.
-Eight drivers have won the pole for Dover’s Chase races – Jimmie Johnson (three), Jeff Gordon (two), Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin, Jeremy Mayfield, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Newman (each have one).
