Chase Elliott wins first Can-Am Duel 150:

#24-Chase Elliott won the first Can-Am Duel 150 Qualifying race for the Daytona 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway followed by #1-McMurray, #4-Harvick, #2-Keselowski, #20-Kenseth, #6-Bayne, #78-Truex, Jr., #43-Almirola, #22-Logano, #72-Whitt, #17-Stenhouse, Jr., #19-Suarez, #18-Busch, #32-DiBenedetto, #37-Buscher, #34-Cassill, #23-Gase, #83-LaJoie, #75-Gaughan, #27-Menard, #55-Sorenson #83-LaJoie was the highest finishing Open Team (non-chartered team), finishing 18th. The other two Open teams: #75-Gaughan finished 19th, #55-Sorenson finished last, in 21st, after contact from #83-LaJoie sent him into the inside SAFER barrier in turn 1 with 11 laps remaining in the race. #75-Gaughan will make the race based on his qualifying speed. He starts 39th. The top 10 finishers earned points under the new scoring system this year. Elliott’s win earns him 10 points, 10th place #72-Whitt gets 1 point. There were two cautions: One for a competition caution on lap 25 and the other for Sorenson’s accident. The finishers of the 1st Can-Am Duel 150 will line up on the inside (odd number) line. #24-Ellott starts on the pole and #1-McMurray will start 3rd.
