A public memorial service for J.D. Gibbs, who passed away last Friday evening, will be held on January 25, 2019 at Belk Arena on the campus of Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
Doors will open at 10:30 AM and the service is scheduled to start at 11:30 AM ET.
Parking on campus will be limited and restricted to Baker Sports Complex and Stowe parking lots adjacent to the Belk Arena. Those attending are asked to enter the lots from Baker Drive. Because parking is limited, car-pooling is highly encouraged. Once the designated lots fill, attendees will be asked to find parking in nearby public areas. Please do not park in spots that are assigned for Davidson employees or students.
Belk Arena is located at 200 Baker Drive, Davidson, NC 28036.
Note: Please do not send flowers to the service or Davidson College. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The J.D. Gibbs Legacy Fund.
J.D. Gibbs was passionate in his support of the Young Life Ministry, for which he served as a leader, local committee member, and national board member during the previous 25 years.
The J.D. Gibbs Legacy Fund has been established to support the Young Life Ministry through two specific objectives that reflect J.D.’s passion for outreach:
1. To ensure “every kid” in the greater Charlotte region can be reached with the gospel, the Fund will provide the support necessary to reach adolescents from all socioeconomic backgrounds, those with special needs, and teen moms.
2. Young Life’s Windy Gap Camp in the mountains of N.C. has been a favorite of J.D.’s and his family for many years. Windy Gap is located just 15 miles north of Asheville, N.C. and the Fund will be used to support the construction of a new dining hall as well as additional facility improvements.
