- The David Pearson Performance Racing Programs will be held at Martinsville Speedway starting in May. The program features hot laps sessions and beginner driving schools and will be held in May, July, October and December. See the story at NASCAR Online.(3-16-98)
- Here is a rumor I have been hearing, can’t hurt to try: “The following is an email address for Hardee’s Restaurant Corps. They’re considering sponsoring Darrell Waltrip, but are trying to ascertain if there would be enough interest to warrant them getting involved.”[email protected], I went to the Hardee’s website and they just signed up a new advertising agency, let’s hope they like the NASCAR kind of thing.(3-16-98)
- Hear that DW and Dale Earnhardt have talked about DW taking over the #1(3-16-98)
- Also, I hear that Dale Earhardt has said that if he does hire a full time driver for the rest of the year, if he has sponsorship, he will keep the replacement driver for a 2nd team next year. I hear Ron Hornaday was pretty upset at not getting the ride for Darlington and Bristol.(3-16-98)
- From Inside NASCAR on TNN Sunday: Rich Bickle is not with the Washington-Erving Motorsports team anymore and will run selected BGN and Truck series races with an eye towards getting a Cup ride. I continue to hear he is a candidate for the #1 Pennzoil ride(3-16-98)
- Steve Park returned to his Cornelius, North Carolina home on Saturday after time in Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Park has already begun rehabilitation under the care of Dr. Walt Beaver, an orthopedic surgeon. Park said he is still in pain from the injury but uses crutches to move around his house.(Pennzoil)(3-16-98)
