  • Pit Stall Selections: The selections of pit stalls for the Food City 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway have been made.
    Pole sitter #18-Busch chose pit stall 1 [as do most pole sitters].
    Outside pole sitter #5-Kahne took pit stall 23, the last pitstall on the backstretch.
    #11-Hamlin, who starts 3rd took the 22nd pit stall, the last stall on the frontstretch.
    The 43rd and final pit stall (the first pistall on the backstretch) was taken by #55-Vickers, who starts 4th.

  • West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame Class Announced: Three NASCAR Champions, a Daytona 500 winner and the former owner and developer of one of the nation’s premier racing facilities will comprise the 2013 Class of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. The newest inductees were named March 3 at Phoenix International Raceway prior to the running of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Subway Fresh Fit 500. Their enshrinement will bring the Hall’s total membership to 118. The newest inductees are: Derrike Cope, Winner of the 1990 Daytona 500; Ron Hornaday Jr., Four-Time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion; Buddy Jobe, Former Owner and Developer of Phoenix International Raceway; Chad Little, 1987 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Champion; Randy Lynch, 2007 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Car Owner Champion. Induction ceremonies will be held Thursday, June 20, at the Meritage Resort and Spa, Napa, Calif. in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend at Sonoma Raceway.(PR)(3-16-2013)
  • Edwards, Gossage on VH1 SATURDAY: Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage and #99-Carl Edwards will be part of the Emmy Award-nominated “Behind The Music Remastered” series featuring Foreigner that will debut 9:00pm/et Saturday on VH-1 Classic and pay tribute to one of the most successful rock-n-roll bands of its era. Gossage and Edwards will reminisce about their favorite memories of the band as well as their interaction with the group in recent years as Foreigner as become immersed in NASCAR. Foreigner was introduced to the NASCAR industry in 2009 when the group served as the pre-race entertainment headliner for the annual Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in April. Now Foreigner has appeared at more NASCAR-related events than any other top Classic Rock band, including a return appearance to Texas Motor Speedway for the spring race last season. It also was the time when VH-1 sat down and interviewed Edwards and Gossage.(TMS)(3-16-2013)
  • Busch wins at Bristol: #54-Kyle Busch won the Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway for his 2nd win of the season, his 5th a Bristol, and 53rd of his career. He held off a hard charging #32-Kyle Larson by .023 second. It was the second closest margin of victory in a Nationwide race at Bristol. #20-Brian Vickers finished third followed by #12-Sam Hornish, Jr., #33-Kevin Harvick, #7-Regan Smith, #16-Chris Buescher, #77-Parker Kligerman, #31-Justin Allgaier, and #2-Brian Scott.     Kyle Busch(i) won the 31st Annual Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300, his 53rd victory in 248 NASCAR Nationwide Series races.
    This is his second victory and third top-10 finish in 2013.
    This is his fifth victory and 14th top-10 finish in 18 races at Bristol Motor Speedway.
    Kyle Larson (second) posted his first top-10 finish in one races at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is his first top-10 finish in 2013.
    Brian Vickers (third) posted his third top-10 finish in seven races at Bristol Motor Speedway.
    Kyle Larson (second) was the highest finishing rookie.
    Sam Hornish Jr. leads the point standings by 22 points over Justin Allgaier.

  • Allgaier on pole at Bristol: #31-Justin Allgaier won the Coors Light Pole for the Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 124.759mph. #3-Austin Dillon will start second. The rest of the top 10: #12-Sam Hornish, Jr., #7-Regan Smith, #11-Elliott Sadler, #22-Brad Keselowski, #33-Kevin Harvick, #2-Brian Scott, #19-Mike Bliss, and #6-Trevor Bayne.   • Sara Evans performing Texas pre-race concert: Country music star Sara Evans, who has gained popularity with five No. 1 singles on the country charts, will headline the Great American Pre-Race Spectacular at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 13 prior to the NRA 500 NASCAR Sprint Sup Series race. Evans, whose latest album, “Stronger” debuted at No. 1 atop the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, will take the stage on the frontstretch at 4:30pm/ct and perform an hour-long concert that will lead into the NRA 500, which is set for 6:30pm/ct. Fans can get up to all the entertainment of the Great American Pre-Race Spectacular with Sara Evans with a special $79 “mosh pit” ticket. The special ticket, which must be accompanied by an NRA 500 grandstand ticket, provides fans exclusive access stage-side for all the pre-race festivities leading up to the NRA 500, including the concert and driver introductions.(TMS)(3-16-2013)
  • Construction on additional pit road suites begins at Charlotte: Construction is underway on six additional pit road suites at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Crews have begun pouring the concrete pylons which will support the new structure along pit road. The suites are 11 feet above pit road and are as close as fans can get to the action, overlooking the race team pit boxes. The original suites, built in 2012, were sold out prior to last year’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. The open-air, covered seating areas can accommodate up to 15 people and include exclusive access to the Winner’s Circle Lounge located adjacent to Victory Circle. The lounge includes a bar, meeting room, seating areas, televisions and restrooms. The new suites will be added on to the existing structure toward the Turn 1 end of pit road. Suite holders receive 15 tickets to each of eight NASCAR events and have the option to purchase catering for the suite.(CMS)(3-16-2013)
