March 20 – Today in Jayski’s NASCAR history

March 20, 1998

  • It has been confirmed by Charlotte News 6 that Randy LaJoie will be in the #50 Bud Chevy for Darlington, subbing for Ricky Craven. No permanent sub has been named yet, Rick Bickle is rumored and there is an outside shot that LaJoie could take the job. Also possible that LaJoie will run the car at Bristol(3-20-98)
  • 49 Cup cars are scheduled to attempt to make the TranSouth 400 including Morgan Shepherd in the #05 Pontiac. Shepherd is scheduled to relieve Mike Skinner in the #31, no idea what happens if he makes the race in his own car. Remember, provisionals are now awarded based on 1998 owners points, for the updated list see Jayski’s Provisional Status Page.(3-20-98)
