- DJ/Yates/2003: Dale Jarrett will continue as driver for Robert Yates Racing through the 2003 season, the Fayetteville(N.C.) Observer-Times learned Friday. A few years ago, Jarrett seriously considered starting his own Winston Cup team and having Yates supply the motors. The team is still a possibility, Jarrett said, but the 42-year-old native of Newton, N.C., added that he would like to finish his driving career with Yates(Fayetteville Observer-Times)(3-20-1999)
- DW/Ingle: Despite widespread rumors to the contrary, Travis Carter said there had been no contact between him and Ingle. Carter is looking for a crew chief to run Darrell Waltrip’s #66 operation, a team Carter co-owns with Carl Haas. - 100th Race: The April 3 Craftsman Truck race at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., will the 100th since the series began in 1995. - Grubb in for Grubb: Kevin Grubb, whose crew chief was hospitalized with chest pains Thursday, failed to put his #37 Timberwolf Chevrolet in the field for the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 at Darlington, but he will run the Busch race. - Crew Chief Hospitalized: Terry Shirley was hospitalized Thursday after complaining of chest pains. Shirley, crew chief of Brewco Motorsports #37 Timber Wolf Chevy and driver Kevin Grubb in the BGN, was admitted to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C., and underwent a series of tests. After results returned negative, the doctors decided to keep him overnight for observation. He was expected to be released Friday afternoon(SpeedNet)(3-20-1999)
- Amick and Education: Lyndon Amick will join the state Education Department in “R.A.C.E. with Lyndon,” a program of appearances and curriculum designed to Reinforcing Academics and Character Education. Scana, the primary sponsor of Amick’s No. 35 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, will give $25,000 to the effort, said Kevin Marsh, senior vice president and chief financial officers of the Columbia-based utility holding company.(NOL)(3-20-1999)
