      • Attorney seeks to withdraw from XXXtreme Motorsports suit: Drew A. Richards, attorney for former Sprint Cup car owner John Cohen, filed a motion to withdraw on Monday because Cohen and XXXtreme Motorsports have “failed to fully compensate” for services rendered and failed to provide a retainer to cover fees and expenses in preparing the case. NBC Sports sought a comment from Cohen but has not received a response. Cohen is being sued in federal court by former Swan Racing car owner Brandon Davis for failure to pay $200,000 for the points of Swan Racing’s #30 car based on an April 2014 agreement cited in the complaint. The complaint notes that Cohen’s XXXtreme Motorsports fielded the #30 car for one race and transferred the points to the #44 car after that.(NBC Sports)(3-29-2016)

      • Ganassi crew member to have heart surgery: Front tire changer Nick Krizmanich of Chip Ganassi Racing will undergo open-heart surgery on March 29. Krizmanich has been a mainstay on pit road for the last few years working with multiple teams, including the #11, 2 and 42. This year Krizmanich was slated as the backup for the #1 and 42. “My condition was found during a physical,” Krizmanich said. “The condition the doctors are fixing is called an aortic insufficiency. They will be replacing the main aortic valve in my heart through open-heart surgery. Apparently, the valve I was born with has a defect and doesn’t close all the way, not allowing blood to fully pump through my heart and body. Thankfully, they found it, and it’s getting fixed before it got even worse.”(Pit Talks)(3-29-2016)

      • Zaxby’s returns to the #05 at Martinsville: Big Z is returning to JWT’s Chevy bowtie at NASCAR’s famous paperclip-shaped oval in south Virginia. After posting solid runs for Bad Boy Mowers in Daytona and ESPFANCLUB.org in Atlanta, John Wes Townley’s #05 Chevrolet Silverado will feature a familiar look this weekend when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rolls into Martinsville Speedway. Townley will welcome longtime supporter Zaxby’s onboard for the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 at the .526-mile oval, a place he has had a love-hate relationship with during the past four years. The 26-year-old Georgia native flexed some short track muscle in last spring’s Truck Series race at Martinsville when he qualified fifth and wound up eighth. During the same event in 2014, Townley was a half lap away from logging a fourth-place finish until he was turned into the wall on the backstretch by fellow competitor German Quiroga. Following Saturday’s event in Martinsville, Townley will turn his attention to ARCA for the balance of April when he competes at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, Salem Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. He will also participate in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event in Talladega, Ala. on Saturday April 30th, before resuming activity in the Truck Series at Kansas Speedway on May 6th.(Athenian Motorsports)(3-29-2016)
