- #31 and Lowes news: This Friday at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, Mike Skinner and Lowe’s are announcing the “Racing for Relief” program to raise money for the American Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts and awareness about disaster preparation during April, the beginning of severe storm weather season. As part of “Racing for Relief”: Lowe’s will donate $31 (Mike’s car number) for every lap Skinner completes and $1,031 for every lap he leads during April Winston Cup races. - Nemechek and Fellows: Road-racing veteran Ron Fellows will race in three NASCAR events at Watkins Glen for Joe Nemechek this season. Fellows, who has driven equipment prepared by Nemechek’s NEMCO Motorsports team in the past, will drive a Nemechek-owned entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the 2.45-mile road course June 24, the NASCAR Busch Series event June 25, and the Winston Cup race there Aug. 13. The sponsor will be the same as 1999, Bully Hill Vineyards.(goracing and RPM2Nite) Fellows almost won the Cup race at Watkins Glen last year, finishing 2nd to Jeff Gordon. - Earnhardt to give Tickets: Dale Earnhardt will join Alabama State Troopers in issuing tickets to law-abiding drivers during a Thursday freeway patrol. Earnhardt will not be handing out speeding citations, but rather tickets to the April 16 DieHard 500 NASCAR Winston Cup series race at Talladega Superspeedway. In addition to promoting the upcoming races at Talladega Superspeedway, the freeway ticket giveaway is also designed to help the Alabama State Troopers bring awareness to highway safety.
