- On This Date in Wood Brothers History: The year was 1972 when the Wood Brothers Racing Team won the Miller High Life 500 from the pole with driver A.J. Foyt at Ontario, California. - Bill Davis Notes: Bill Davis Racing hopes to move into their new facility within the next three weeks. The new facility will house both NASCAR Winston Cup operations and the existing facility will become the new NASCAR Busch Series operation. - Wells 2000 Plans? UPDATE: Cal Wells, who is a rookie owner in the NASCAR ranks, is not ready to commit to a pair of Winston Cup teams for 2001 and plans to have it all sorted out by October. Wells fields a Cup(#32 Tide team with Scott Pruett) and Busch team(#97 McDonald’s with Anthony Lazarro). UPDATE: Clarification From PPI Motorsports. To eliminate any confusion resulting from Tuesday’s (April 25) NASCAR Winston Cup Series weekly teleconference, Cal Wells III and PPI Motorsports will field two Winston Cup teams in 2001 with primary sponsorships from Tide and McDonald’s. When asked about the status and timetable of his McDonald’s-sponsored Busch team, Wells said, “It’s in its infancy. We’ll have it all sorted out by October.” Wells was referring to the team and driver being sorted out by October to complete his implementation of elevating the McDonald’s Busch team to a Winston Cup program in 2001(PPI Motorsports)(4-27-2000) - Gilchrist at California: was wondering what was up with Derrick Gilchrist and the Andy Petree Racing team.
